Open source speelt hierin een belangrijke rol: het helpt om de onafhankelijkheid en veerkracht van de Europese infrastructuur te beschermen en geeft de Nederlandse en Europese overheden meer ruimte om te manoeuvreren en te onderhandelen.

Voor het succes van open source is een duurzaam en gezond ecosysteem onmisbaar. Publieke en private investeringen moeten samengaan met goed bestuur en een focus op duurzame ontwikkeling. Zonder die samenhang dreigt het risico dat investeringen versnipperen en vooral leiden tot nog meer verweesde en niet-onderhouden software.

De Dutch Open Source Business Alliance (DOSBA) is opgericht om de krachten binnen de open source-sector te bundelen en om publieke en private partijen te ondersteunen bij het duurzaam inzetten en ontwikkelen van open source-oplossingen. Samenwerking met bestaande projecten en bedrijven, een ‘upstream-first’-benadering en het vermijden van onnodige forks zijn essentieel om fragmentatie te voorkomen en langdurig succes te behalen.

Open source wint in Nederland duidelijk aan momentum, zowel bij de overheid als in het bedrijfsleven. Met onze deelname aan DOSBA willen we die groei ondersteunen en bijdragen aan een sterker en beter verbonden open source-ecosysteem in Nederland.

We zijn dan ook blij te kunnen melden dat Nextcloud zich officieel heeft aangesloten bij de Dutch Open Source Business Alliance, de nieuwe brancheorganisatie voor professionele open source-bedrijven in Nederland.

DOSBA brengt organisaties samen die zich inzetten voor een sterker open source-landschap in Nederland. Een van de doelen is om Nederlandse organisaties, van overheden tot bedrijven, beter wegwijs te maken in het groeiende open source-ecosysteem en hen te verbinden met betrouwbare software- en dienstverleners.

Als onderdeel van dit netwerk draagt Nextcloud graag bij aan de zichtbaarheid en toegankelijkheid van open source-oplossingen in Nederland. Deze stap sluit aan bij onze langdurige steun voor vergelijkbare initiatieven, zoals de Open Source Business Alliance (OSBA) in Duitsland en APELL (Association Professionnelle Européenne du Logiciel Libre) op Europees niveau.

We kijken ernaar uit om samen te werken met de andere leden, kennis te delen en bij te dragen aan de verdere professionalisering van open source in Nederland.

De aansluiting van Nextcloud bij DOSBA is een mooi voorbeeld van hoe we toonaangevende spelers in het open source-veld samenbrengen. Hun ervaring en Europese perspectief zijn waardevolle aanvullingen voor onze missie om open source in Nederland als een serieuze en professionele keuze te positioneren.

Over the last months global political developments have sparked a flurry of conversation about digital sovereignty in the Netherlands. Open source has a key role to play in protecting the independence and resilience of Europe’s infrastructure and giving the Dutch and EU governments room to maneuver and negotiate.

Crucial for the success of Open Source is a durable, healthy ecosystem. Public and private investment will have to align with good governance and a focus on sustainable development. Otherwise, investments will scatter in 1000 directions and only result in more abandoned and unmaintained software!

The Dutch Open Source Business Alliance (DOSBA) has been established for the open source branch to join forces and help educate the public and private sector on how to sustainably deploy and contribute to open source solutions. Cooperation with existing projects and companies, using upstream-first policies and avoiding forks is key in avoiding a fragmentation of the ecosystem and achieve long term success.

We see a growing momentum for open source in the Netherlands, both in the public and private sector. By joining DOSBA, we want to support that development and help build a stronger, more connected open source ecosystem in the country.

We are pleased to share that Nextcloud has officially joined the Dutch Open Source Business Alliance, the newly established branch organization for professional open source companies in the Netherlands.

DOSBA brings together organizations committed to strengthening the role of open source in the Dutch digital landscape. One of its goals is to help Dutch organizations, from government bodies to businesses, find their way around the growing open source ecosystem and to connect them with trusted software and service providers.

As part of this network, Nextcloud looks forward to contributing to the visibility and accessibility of open-source solutions in the Netherlands. Our involvement also complements our longstanding support for similar initiatives, such as the Open Source Business Alliance (OSBA) in Germany and APELL (Association Professionnelle Européenne du Logiciel Libre) on the European level.
